Job Summary
Kutztown University is accepting applications to fill a University Registered Nurse (9-month) position. The University Nurse is a member of the Student Affairs division and works in collaboration with campus partners to enhance students’ experience, success, and retention by promoting health and wellness. Start date is August 10, 2026.
The University Nurse is responsible for providing professional nursing services to university students, including injury, illness, and prevention care. Work efforts are primarily directed toward the promotion, maintenance, and restoration of the physical and mental health of our students; providing nursing assessment and treatment in accordance with established protocols and standards of care; and guiding students to make informed decisions about their health. The University Nurse is also responsible for functioning as a team member and is expected to utilize their experience and skill in collaboration with their colleagues. The University Nurse often will need to be autonomous and is required to possess the clinical experience to assess, evaluate, treat, or refer to a provider as needed.
Compensation Package: $48,615.00 (9-months), plus comprehensive benefits, including:
- Schedule – Monday – Friday dayshift hours, 9-month position – no weekends, nights, or holidays, and summers off!
- Paid Time Off – Generous personal, vacation, & sick leave banks, and the University is closed the last week of December for winter break.
- Medical insurance – Low bi-weekly premium for Highmark PPO plan and prescription drug benefits; dental & vision benefits at no cost. Coverage starts on the first day of employment for employees and dependents.

- Voluntary Group Life and Accident Insurance – Low premium rates available for purchase for additional employee coverage as well as coverage for spouse and children.
- Long-Term Disability Insurance – Available for purchase at low premiums with either a 90 or 180-day waiting period.

- Bachelor’s Degree tuition waiver – For employee, spouse, and dependents.
Minimum Qualifications
- Active, unrestricted Pennsylvania registered nurse license.
- BSN or diploma in nursing.
- AHA BLS CPR & AED certification.
- Minimum of three (3) years recent professional nursing experience in a college health center, emergency, ambulatory care, acute or primary care setting.
Required Skills
- Possess critical thinking skills, work autonomously in accordance with scope of practice, and ability to make sound judgments based upon current nursing standards and ethics.
- Demonstrate a commitment to providing nonjudgmental, compassionate care to a diverse student population in an equitable and inclusive manner.
- Ability to multi-task, work independently and as part of a team.
- Must have interpersonal skills to courteously engage with students and staff members to effectively achieve desired goals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of the medical needs of college-aged students.
- Experience with phlebotomy, injections, TB skin testing, collection of body fluid samples, and preparation of specimens for testing and/or transportation to affiliate laboratory.
- Experience in a reproductive healthcare setting.
- Prior experience working with adolescent/young adult population.

The starting salary for this position is $48,615.00, based on the OPEIU Collective Bargaining Agreement.
This position may be eligible for a flexible hybrid work arrangement, permitting a combination of on-site and remote work, subject to applicable organizational policies, operational requirements, and supervisory approval.
