Rider University seeks a dynamic and visionary leader to serve as its eighth President and invites nominations for and expressions of interest in the position. The University seeks an innovative and engaging President who possesses the ability and experience to build and articulate a comprehensive unifying vision among all constituents and develop strategies to meet the challenges the University and higher education face in the 21st century. The successful candidate will succeed Dr. Gregory G. Dell’Omo, who will retire in July 2025 following nearly a decade of service.
Situated in the heart of the Northeast corridor, Rider University is conveniently located 60 miles south of New York City and 35 miles north of Philadelphia, in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Rider’s 280-acre picturesque campus is home to the College of Arts and Sciences, the Norm Brodsky College of Business, and the College of Education and Human Services. The University prides itself on its strong reputation as an institution that follows the teacher-scholar model. Ninety-four percent of Rider’s almost 200 full-time faculty hold a doctorate or the highest credential in their field. In Fall 2024, Rider’s diverse student population of 4,007 students, included approximately 3,200 undergraduate and 800 graduate students.
Rider University is an accredited institution and a member of the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and is currently planning for its next self-study and team evaluation visit in spring 2027. Rider also holds specialized accreditation with the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP), and Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The University is also approved by the International Registry of Counsellor Education Programs (IRCEP), the National Accreditation of School Psychologists (NASP), and the American Chemical Society (ACS).
Rider University is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I for both men’s and women’s athletics. The University offers 21 sports – 10 men’s and 11 women’s teams – and is a member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC). Field hockey competes in the Northeast Conference (NEC) and wrestling competes in the Mid-American Conference (MAC).
The President of Rider University is the chief executive officer who reports to the Board of Trustees and acts in accordance with the policies and by-laws of the University. The President is expected to be a strategic and earnest leader who fosters a dynamic academic community with vision and commitment.
To be an effective leader for the campus community, enhance academic excellence, and ensure long-term financial stability, Rider seeks a President who will be a strong academic leader and relationship builder, possess strong financial management skills, have demonstrated friend- and fundraising ability, and be an open communicator and collaborator. The next President should excel in creating a strategic vision, be a strong leader, an open communicator, and bring skills to develop resources and enhance the institutional profile of Rider University.

This is a full-time position that will be performed on site in New Jersey. Salary commensurate with experience with a generous benefits package.
