The Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam seeks highly qualified candidates for the full-time, tenure-track position of Assistant Professor of Music Education with a focus on instrumental music and general music education. A core value of the Crane music education department is a commitment to furthering teaching and learning experiences that reflect the contemporary musical landscape of today’s students with diverse interests and backgrounds, and an ever-evolving understanding of music learning and music making in the 21st century. Successful candidates will demonstrate commitment to these values and will be instrumental in working to realize that vision. Responsibilities for this position may include teaching core instrumental and general music education courses and facilitating instrumental and general music practicum courses and field experiences. Additional courses may be assigned based on the candidate’s experience and the needs of the department, including courses related to SUNY Potsdam’s General Education Program. This position may require teaching during evening hours or at off-site locations, and may include opportunities for online teaching and teaching graduate-level music education courses.
