The Dean of Students Office within the Division of Student Affairs supports students’ success and well-being. The Dean of Students Office leads several functions including student support and crisis response, campus behavior intervention and support teams, student emergency grants, tuition appeals, student grievances and complaints, academic and non-academic misconduct disciplinary processes, Clergy compliance, and so on. The Dean of Students Office works collaboratively with campus and community partners to promote a healthy, safe, and inclusive learning community.

Job Summary

The Student Conduct Coordinator reports to an Associate Dean of Students and engages students in conversations and services that help develop responsible, contributing, and successful members of the UW-Milwaukee (UWM) campus. The Student Conduct Coordinator works collaboratively with students, parents/guardians, faculty, and staff to identify and respond to alleged misconduct, interpret policies and procedures, adjudicate cases, problem-solve student concerns, review emergency grants, and discuss options, and consequences of various decisions at UWM. This person must use high level of discretion to help resolve complex, sensitive matters that often involve many departments and have a potentially high impact on students’ finances, enrollment, University standing, and personal wellness. The Student Conduct Coordinator specializes in a student-centered, developmental approach to supporting student success.

 

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of two (2) years full-time work experience or four (4) years part-time work or internships in higher education with direct experience working with a campus conduct program, social work, counseling, advising, or student advocacy.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:
  • A Master’s degree in college student personnel, higher education administration, or a closely related field (counselor education, social work, educational administration)
  • Demonstrated ability to adjudicate/investigate complex cases such as physical assault, weapons, drugs, and/or over-intoxication
  • Experience in crisis intervention and successful conflict resolution
  • Experience working with students in crisis/managing complex situations involving students, faculty, staff, community partners, and parents/families
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and inclusivity
