Florida A&M University to Lead the New Center for Coastal and Marine Ecosystems
The new center is supported by a five-year, $15.4 million grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Larry Robinson, Distinguished Professor and interim president, will serve as the director of the Center for Coastal and Maine Ecosystems.

New interim president of Florida A&M University Larry Robinson wasted no time by firing six members of his predecessor's leadership team. Rodner Wright, dean of the university's School of Architecture and Engineering Technology, was named interim provost.
In Memoriam: Samuel A. Floyd Jr., 1937-2016
Samuel Floyd Jr. was the founder of the Center for Black Music Research at Columbia College in Chicago and the founder of the Black Music Research Journal.
A Change in Leadership at Florida A&M University
President Elmira Mangum, whose contract was set to expire on March 31, has agreed to leave her post immediately. She will be replaced by Larry Robinson, who has previously served as interim president of the university. An environmental scientist, Dr. Robinson is the former provost and vice president for academic affairs at Florida A&M.
The New Chancellor of the Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center
Bobby R. Phills, former dean and director of land grant programs at Florida A&M University, was named chancellor of the Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center and dean of the university's College of Agriculture.
A Leadership Crisis at Florida A&M University in Tallahassee
Recently the board of trustees voted by a 7-5 margin not to renew the president's contract when it expires in April. The board created a task force to determine the future of leadership at the university. It did not rule out extending the president's contract and it did not rule out letting her go.

James Ammons Changes His Mind on Becoming Provost at Delaware State University
In May, it was announced that James H. Ammons would be the next provost and vice president for academic affairs at Delaware State University in Dover. Now Dr. Ammons has decided to stay put as a professor of political science at Florida A&M University.

Florida A&M University to Build a New Living / Learning Community
