Timothy Summers has been appointed vice president of information technology and chief information officer at Morgan State University in Baltimore. He comes to his new role from Arizona State University, where he was executive director of Cloud and Advanced Networking Engineering Services and director of Next Lab. Earlier, he served as a manager and systems security designer for the U.S. Department of Defense.
Dr. Summers received his bachelor’s degree in computer science and business administration from Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina, a master’s degree in information security policy and management from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and a Ph.D. in management from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland.
Donnell Walton has been named deputy director of the University Affiliated Research Center at Howard University in Washington, D.C. His appointment marks a return to Howard, where he previously taught as a physics professor. Most recently, he led the Corning West Technology Center, an applied research laboratory in Silicon Valley.
Dr. Walton is a graduate of North Carolina State University, where he double-majored in physics and electrical engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in applied physics from the University of Michigan.
Mone’t Basnight Earle has been named director of alumni relations and engagement at Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina. She has extensive experience in supporting the university’s alumni relations, including service as a member of the homecoming committee and chair of the National Alumni Association Convention.
Earle is a graduate of Elizabeth City State University.
Jerome Oglesby has been named strategic advisor to the president at Tennessee State University. In his new role, he will focus on enhancing the HBCU’s technology strategy, digital transformation, and cybersecurity initiatives. He has over 35 years of experience in information technology, including service as global chief technology officer for Deloitte.
Oglesby received his bachelor’s degree in information systems from the University of Texas at Austin and his MBA from Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tennessee.
Jeffrey Pierce II has been appointed director of undergraduate admissions at Florida A&M University. He has a robust background in admissions at HBCUs, previously serving on the staffs at Tuskegee University in Alabama, Huston-Tillotson University in Austin, Texas, Albany State University in Georgia, and Paine College in Augusta, Georgia. Most recently, he served as director of KIPP Forward for KIPP Jacksonville Schools in Florida
Pierce holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Paine College and a master’s degree in higher education from Walden University.
Paula McCraney has been named senior vice president for advancement and development at Simmons College of Kentucky. She has served on the Louisville Metro Council since 2019, holding several key leadership roles such as president pro tempore and majority caucus chairwoman. She is also president and CEO of P Mc & Associates Performance Management.
Dr. McCraney received her bachelor’s degree in business administration from Oklahoma State University, amaster’s degree in business management and leadership from Webster University, and doctorate from Spalding University.
