Edward Waters University Receives Record-Breaking Student Applications for Upcoming Semester

Edward Waters University, a historically Black educational institution in Jacksonville, Florida, has achieved an all-time record of student applications. For the upcoming fall 2025 semester, the HBCU received nearly 11,500 applications – the most ever received in the school’s 158-year-history.

Compared to last year, Edward Waters experienced a 6.2 percent increase in total student applications, as well as a 17.6 percent increase in enrollment deposits for new students. Furthermore, graduate program applications at the HBCU have soared, with a 153 percent increase over the past year. Recently, the university launched four new master’s degree programs in cybersecurity, public administration, business administration, and education policy and advocacy. Combined, these new programs received nearly 250 applications.

“This historic milestone speaks volumes about the growing momentum, relevance, and reputation of Edward Waters University across the state, nation, and globe,” said President A. Zachary Faison, Jr. “We are thrilled to see this record level of interest and are committed to building on this foundation by continuing to provide an accessible, rigorous, and mission-driven education to all students who choose to join us.”

Registration for the fall 2025 semester at Edward Waters University remains open. Classes begin on August 4, with fall regular registration ending on August 15.
