Four African Americans Selected for Administrative Positions at HBCUs

Linell J. Jefferson III was appointed residential life area coordinator for programming and leadership at North Carolina Central University. He comes to the HBCU from the University of North Alabama, where he supervised resident and graduate assistants, led residential operations, and directed his department’s branding and digital engagement strategies. Jefferson’s background also includes experience in multimedia storytelling, social media strategy, and athletics communications.

Jefferson earned his bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from Winston-Salem State University in North Carolina.

Raymon Hicks is the director of admissions at Savannah State University in Georgia. Hicks joins the university from another HBCU, Virginia State University, where he was director of admissions operations. In his new role, he will oversee the admissions office and lead recruitment efforts aimed at expanding Savannah State’s footprint and enhancing the student experience.

A native of Petersburg, Virginia, Hicks holds a bachelor’s degree in business leadership and a master’s degree in organizational leadership within educational administration and supervision.

Todd Greene was named senior vice president for institutional relations at the Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta. With over two decades of leadership experience, Greene most recently served as vice president of the work, education, and labor division at the Urban Institute. Earlier in his career, he was executive director of the Atlanta University Center Consortium and vice president at the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta.

Greene earned his bachelor’s degree from Harvard University. He holds master’s degrees from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and Georgia State University.

Jarrod Benjamin has been appointed vice president for student affairs and enrollment management at Albany State University in Georgia. Dr. Benjamin has extensive experience in higher education administration, including leadership roles at Jackson State University in Mississippi, Florida International University, and Florida Memorial University. More recently, he was chief executive officer of The LEAD Firm, a national consulting organization supporting colleges and universities with enrollment strategies, leadership capacity, and institutional effectiveness.

A U.S. Army veteran, Dr. Benjamin is a graduate of Florida Memorial University, where he majored in business administration. He holds an MBA from Nova Southeastern University in Davie, Florida, and a Ph.D. in urban higher education from Jackson State University.
