Higher Education Grants of Interest to African-Americans

money bag 2Here is this week’s news of grants to historically Black colleges and universities or for programs of particular interest to African Americans in higher education.

Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, received a $1.5 million grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for continued funding of its programs to promote healthy eating and lifestyle habits among minority youths.

Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond received a two-year, $700,000 grant from Pfizer Corporation to support the Virginia Women’s Stroke Initiative. The program promotes the prevention of stroke among women, particularly those who are members of minority groups.

In Memoriam: Nathan Howard Cook, 1939-2024

Dr. Cook was a longtime faculty member and administrator at Lincoln University of Missouri. A full professor of biology, he held several leadership roles including vice president for academic affairs.
