Vice President of Finance and Planning, Chief Financial Officer
The Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) invites nominations and applications for the position of vice president of Finance and Planning, chief financial officer. Reporting to the executive vice president for Administration and Finance, Dr. Shantay Bolton, this position will exercise overarching administration of all financial operations of the Institute and provide strategic and entrepreneurial thinking, vision, and innovation to critical efforts that advance the Institute’s and division’s strategic plan, mission, and goals.

Opportunity Summary
The new vice president of Finance and Planning, chief financial officer, will bring advanced knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting and financial management as applied within a state higher education or related environment and the expertise to provide direction to the financial services, budget and planning organizations of the Institute including Institute Budget Planning and Administration, Treasury Services, Office of the Controller, Georgia Tech Research Corporations, Affiliated Organization Finance, Institute Finance Support, Institutional Research and Planning, Procurement and Business Services, Grants and Contracts Accounting, and the Office of the Bursar.
In addition to a record of successful executive-level administrative and impactful financial leadership experience in a complex organization, the ideal candidate will be a fiscally minded, results-driven leader who demonstrates a commitment to the Institute’s mission and values; has a proven ability to drive strategic direction, communicate effectively with various constituencies, collaborate and lead by influence; and exhibits emotional maturity, genuineness, self-confidence, common sense, judgment, fairness, creativity, discretion, decisiveness, political savvy, diplomacy, tact, resiliency, adaptability, courage of convictions and tolerance for ambiguity.
The successful candidate will have at least 10 years of progressively responsible experience leading a finance division for a complex nonprofit with multiple funding sources including government (federal and state) contracts and an affiliate structure with diverse program areas. A bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. An advanced degree and/or Certified Public Accountant and/or Certified Management Accountant certification; and significant knowledge and understanding of higher education and experience in a multi-campus higher education system are preferred.
