Job Description:
The State University of New York is seeking an effective, progressive, and dynamic administrator who demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion to serve as the Executive Director of its North Bronx Career Counseling and Outreach Center (NBCCOC). Founded in 1997, NBCCOC has dedicated significant efforts and resources to support the North Bronx community by providing academic and workforce programs and wrap around services that will lead to self-sufficiency, confidence, and community consciousness.
The Executive Director assumes responsibility for all operations of the NBCCOC including programs and services, the supervision of staff, development and administration of budget, the recruitment of and outreach to the targeted service population and community partnership development and other relevant collaborations, operational evaluation, and preparation of required reports for a diverse array of stakeholders (SUNY, CUNY, elected officials, community partners, etc.). The Executive Director also participates in committee work and other initiatives collaboratively with EOC colleagues across the system. The Executive Director oversees the NBCCOC, under the direction of and in consultation with the SUNY University Center for Academic and Workforce Development (UCAWD), which provides strategic direction and funding to the statewide system of 10 Educational Opportunity Centers (EOC), 2 Counseling and Outreach Centers (CCOC), and over 30 Advanced Technology Training and Information Networking Labs (ATTAIN) across New York State. Reporting directly to the Associate Provost and Director of UCAWD, the incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that the systemwide goals and objectives for the NBCCOC are met.
Supervisory Responsibility: The Executive Director supervises the Associate Director, Senior Career Planning and Development Associate, and the Administrative Support Specialist.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the development, implementation and administration all operations, programs and services of the Center.
- Oversee the facilitation of wrap around services to mitigate barriers to success.
- Ensure and assess current and proposed programs and services to meet SUNY UCAWD and EOC guidelines.
- Review and manage Center data to improve outcomes.
- Oversee the development of marketing strategies for student recruitment.
- In collaboration with SUNY UCAWD, serve as the point of contact on current and new facility leasing needs, including site selection.
- In collaboration with SUNY UCAWD, prepare and oversee the Center’s budget and pertinent budgetary documentation.
- Serve as the point of contact to UCAWD’s IT support department.
- Ensure compliance with EOC guidelines for operation.
- Prepare all required reports and contracts for submission to SUNY UCAWD.
- Represent NBCCOC at meetings and activities with community agencies and partners, legislative offices, workforce organizations, support agencies and SUNY UCAWD.
- Ensure the coordination of enrichment activities that include but are not limited to: college and career fairs, workshops, educational tours, recognition ceremonies, etc.
- Oversee, coordinate and maintain the various activities of NBCCOC’s Advisory Board of at least ten members representing various educational, non-profit, business, and community agencies.
- In collaboration with SUNY UCAWD, generate, co-coordinate, and execute all Memorandum of Agreements on behalf of partnerships and collaborations consistent with the mission of serving NBCCOC’s participants.
- Ensure confidentiality in the management of sensitive program and personnel related concerns.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree and minimum of 5-7 years of progressive administrative/management experience in education and/or human services.
- Experience with program planning, development, implementation, administration, assessment and evaluation.
- Strong supervisory and organizational skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and student records management systems (such as Banner), data reporting systems (such as ARGOS), and Learning Management Systems (LMS).
- Experience working with low income and underrepresented populations, adults, families and youth at risk; and/or familiarity with the skills and demeanor needed to support underserved populations, including individuals experiencing physical, mental and emotional distress.
- Outstanding written communication skills with the ability to prepare strategic planning documents, operational plans, proposals, reports, and promotional materials.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in higher education, counseling, administration or related area.
- A strong record of administrative and leadership experience in a complex organization.
- A proven record of program assessment and evaluation.
- Working knowledge of binding agreements, contracts, and articulation agreements.
- Experience in managing complex programs and budgets.
Additional Information:
- Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications. The range for this position is $95,000 – $115,000.
