In Memoriam: Linda D. Scott

Dr. Scott was the first Black woman dean of the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Nursing. Originally set to retire in June 2026, she moved up her retirement date for health reasons, ultimately passing less than a week after stepping down from her role.

When he takes office on December 1, Dr. Grant will be the first person of color to lead the university. Since January 2021, Dr. Grant has served as chancellor of Pennsylvania State University-Berks. Earlier, he was dean of the College of Community and Public Service at Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan.

Jerry Wallace Selected as the New President of Danville Community College in Virginia

Dr. Wallace has been serving as president of the Hastings Campus of Nebraska Central Community College, where he has worked since 2019. Prior to that, he was a dean at New River Community and Technical College in Beckley, West Virginia.

Saint Augustine’s University Enters Partnership With Grand Valley State University in Michigan

Saint Augustine’s University, the historically Black educational institution in Raleigh, North Carolina, has signed an agreement with Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan, to provide HBCU students opportunities to earn master’s degrees in advanced computing or engineering fields in as little as five years.

Fort Valley State University Enters Partnership With Grand Valley State University

Historically Black Fort Valley State University in Georgia announced a partnership with Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan. The agreement will create a pathway for FVSU students to earn a master’s degree in electronic engineering technology or computer science in as little as five years.

Dr. George Grant Jr. has been serving as professor and dean of the College of Community and Public Service at Grand Valley State University in Michigan. Prior to becoming dean, Dr. Grant was director of the university's School of Social Work.

Jerry Wallace Named President of the Hasting Campus of Central Community College in Nebraska

Most recently, Dr. Wallace served as dean of workforce, technical, and community education at New River Community and Technical College in Beckley, West Virginia. His new duties will include serving as vice president for the three-campus Central Community College system.

Jann Luciana Joseph Will Be the Next President of Georgia Gwinnett College

Currently, Dr. Joseph serves as interim chancellor of Indiana University South Bend. She was executive vice chancellor for academic affairs at the South Bend campus before she was asked to step into her current role. Earlier in her career, she served as dean of the College of Education at Eastern Michigan University.

Sean Huddleston Named President of Martin University in Indianapolis

Currently, Huddleston is vice president for inclusion and equity at the University of Indianapolis. He was the chief officer for diversity, inclusion, and community engagement at Framingham State University in Massachusetts. Huddleston will begin as president of Martin University on March 25, 2019.

Taking on new duties are Rebecca Davis at Simmons University in Boston, Sharon M. Howell at Saint Catherine University in St. Paul, Minnesota, Adanna Jones at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, and Tracey Fleming of Grand Valley State University in Allendale, Michigan.
