Dr. Walcott has been a faculty member at the University of Georgia since 1999. For the past six years, he has served as vice provost for graduate education and dean of the Graduate School.

Henry R. Young of the University of Georgia and Tricia Penniecook of the University of South Florida were promoted to leadership roles. Derrick C. Lewis Sr. and Jennifer Hunter joined the faculties of Rust College and Virginia Commonwealth University, respectively. Yale University's Marlene Daut was selected for a fellowship at New York Public Library, and Kenni Zellner is an endowed visiting assistant professor at Boston College Law School.

The University of Georgia Libraries has honored Dr. Blain, professor of history and Africana studies at Brown University, for her latest book, Without Fear: Black Women and the Making of Human Rights.

Dr. Clayton was an administrator and professor at historically Black Morehouse College in Atlanta for more than two decades. Later in his career, he led undergraduate research at Clark Atlanta University. His scholarship centered on improving the lives of Black men and boys.

Professor Brown has been serving as dean of the Winston College of Law at the University of Tennessee. He will begin his new role of dean of the Beasley School of Law at Temple University in Philadelphia on August 1.

Nichesius Godwin has been elected president of the LEAP Graduate Student Network at the University of Georgia, where he is pursuing a Ph.D. in education. Vanessa Macamo has been elected president of the Graduate and Professional Student Council at the University of Arizona, where she is pursuing a Ph.D. in special education.

Maxine Burkett is founding faculty director of Stanford University's new Center for Just Environmental Futures and Kim Lewis is chief research officer at Howard University. The University of Georgia has named J. Marshall Shepherd a Regents' Professor, which is the university's highest professional honor.

Dr. Blanchard has served as president of the University of Houston-Downtown for the past five years. He is slated to assume the presidency of California State University, Long Beach on May 1.

A Clemson faculty member since 2003, Dr. Jones is known for his leadership with the Call Me MiSTER program, a teacher recruitment and retention initiative that seeks to increase the number of teachers in hard-to-staff schools. He first joined the program while teaching at historically Black Claflin University, before bringing the program with him to Clemson.

"I am deeply grateful for this opportunity, and I look forward to all that God has in store as I partner with our faculty, staff, students, alums, donors, and community partners in shaping a bold and inspiring future for B-CU," said Dr. Mosley. His presidency is set to begin on July 7.

Olaoluwatoni Alimi and Francis Tsiboe have joined the faculties of Princeton University and North Dakota State University, respectively. Barbara McCaskill has been promoted to distinguished research professor at the University of Georgia.

“Having the opportunity to serve Emory as interim president is a full circle moment for me,” said Sears. “In 1977, I was fortunate to receive a scholarship to the Emory School of Law, and it changed my life. I think my life’s work has been a payback for that gift, and I welcome the chance to serve Emory as it continues to change lives the way it did for me and my family.”

Beginning in the role of president-elect designate, Dr. Means will serve as key leader of the National Rural Education Association for a five-year term. His career has been dedicated to advancing education for underrepresented students, particularly in STEM.

K. Paige Carmichael has been promoted to University Professor at the University of Georgia and Boise State University Instructor Michael Strickland has been selected to represent higher education on the Serve Idaho Commission.

Dr. Jones is slated to become the University of Washington's first Black president on August 1. He comes to his new role from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he has served as the institution's first Black chancellor for the past nine years.

In 1970, Dr. Johnson made history as the first Black tenured professor to be hired by the University of Miami, where he taught for the next three decades.

Nine years ago, Dr. Jones was named the first African American chancellor of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. He will retire at the end of the current academic year, following a decade of enrollment growth, academic improvements, and successful fundraising.

A team of scholars from the University of Kentucky, the University of Illinois, and the University of Georgia have found that consumers tend to prefer ads featuring interracial couples more than ads with White couples, but less than ads featuring same-race minority couples.

The new faculty appointments are Jack Eaddy at the University of Georgia, Karida Brown at Fisk University, and Elihuruma Kimaro at Arizona State University.

The study analyzed a sample of Black adolescents' neural response to negative stimuli, cross-referenced with survey responses regarding the participants' internal and external emotional symptoms.
